Experienced Ear Surgeon
Working for New Mexico
In New Mexico, a state of 2 million people, there were as of June 2022 only one full time and one half-time ear surgeon in the entire state. Most people simply cannot get in to see the ear doctor, no matter what their income class. Rural areas remain isolated with little access to evaluation or care. Therefore, Dr. Mir Redleaf founded New Mexico Audiology-Neurotology (Nueva MANO) NFP to democratize ear education and the delivery of ear services in New Mexico. Our outpatient services are delivered in our Traveling Ear Van. Surgical services require insurance coverage which is accepted by either of the two surgical sites in Albuquerque. The mobile clinic unit and hospital operative sites are used for surgical education.
Dr. Redleaf is an ear subspecialist.
Dr. Redleaf has more than 30 years of surgical experience and comes to New Mexico to try to help the under-serviced population. Our style is straight-forward and direct, and we get the job done.
Experienced Ear Surgeon in New Mexico
Dr. Redleaf’s goal in New Mexico is ONLY TO PROVIDE EXCELLENT SURGICAL EAR SERVICES.
Dr. Redleaf tries to offer treatment solutions which are best for each patient – even if this means extra work, or even if it means saying no.
She/they try their best to make the patient better, so that whatever happens after surgery, they know they did their best.
Surgery to correct ear problems is less and less in the hands of general otolaryngologists (ENT doctors) and more and more in the hands of otologists/neurotologists (specialized ear surgeons).
Dr. Redleaf’s goal is to democratize surgical education and democratize delivery of services.
Therefore she/they founded the Ethio-American Hearing Project NFP to teach otolaryngologists in Ethiopia how to operate on ears, and to spread the use of Cued Speech, and to further audiology training, and to shepherd in the first cochlear implants there.
